MSP GOES TO SCANNEXUS

On the 27th of November, the committee held its first quiz at MSP, featuring a variety of questions from (and beyond) the many domains of the sciences, in a diverse set of fast-paced rounds.

The winning teams (two out of eight) received free tickets to the next MSP party, and vouchers to our favourite places to eat!

The Scannexus labs in Maastricht are home to some of the most powerful MRI machines in the world.

BYA: TINY PLANTS AND THEIR MICROBIAL SYMBIONTS

The committee held a BYA with MSP Lecturer Jessica Nelson on the 12th of November. The topic was on the relationships between often-overlooked plants (such as mosses) and microbes

Jessica also brought live samples of mosses for attendees to examine under the microscope!

BYA: single molecule magnets

On the 6th of November, the Academic Committee invited MSP lecturer Dr. Veaceslav Vieru to give a talk about his field of work, Single Molecule Magnets

He talked about their molecular properties, and applications in and beyond the field of chemistry

iGEM OPEN REHERSAL

A team of MSP students is set to participate in the international iGEM competition in Boston. The Academic Committee invited them to do a mock presentation in front of fellow MSP students and staff, providing a glimpse of their gene editing kit project. They performed on 8th October, receiving useful feedback from those in the audience.
